Rock. Simple overdriven dual guitars, tough guy vocals. Something borrowed, something new: channeling the New York Dolls and especially the Clash, basic rockisms with a nod to late 70’s “new wave punk”. Er, okay, scratch the “something new” part. Catchy choruses, creative beats, good guitar playing, great stuff despite the lackluster production (probably a kick-ass band live). Some tracks border on the ska of the Clash heavily.
1) feedback intro to heavy tom tom beat rock, tough guy vocals, wimpy open D chord bridges
2) upbeat, melodic poppy vocals
3) swingy beat, big rolling tom tom parts, very Clash’ish
4) FCC hyper beat
5) FCCs in last 30 seconds, otherwise best song: bit more retro Kinks/New Wave feel, cool vocal approach and catchy as hell chorus
6) upbeat fast high hat, somehow bordering on fast ska but doesn’t go there
7) catchy backbeat, that Clash’y “Sandanista!” thing is bleeding through the pages bigtime
8) 70’s headbanger rock feel (think Grand Funk) melded with melodic chorus
9) minor funky rhythm with train beat, theme
10) offbeat, minor bar chords
11) very Clashy minor chord reggae ska in versus, then poppy chorus
12) Wire cover, pretty hard to fuck that up
