INTRONAUT – “Void” CD (Goodfellow)
Heavy rock/metal not far from ISIS, MARE or CAVE IN. Lots of melody and discordance to go along with their heavy bombastic sound. Just as many ambient interludes as there are heavy moments. Vocals are screamed metalcore-syle yet understandable. What is this sound called? Post-metal? (jk). Former members of UPHILL BATTLE, ANUBIS RISING, IMPALED and EXUMED.
**1. Dramatic beginning, the guitars and bass keep going as the double bass drums pummel you. The drumming is spectacular on this track.
**2. Faster with much faster drumming. This track has lots of different parts including multiple slow sections. Ends with lots of noise and feedback.
3. Ambient beginning. Driving, midpaced track with samples. Epic is a good word to describe this.
4. Prog-y indie rock beginning. Then a dramatic change to a heavy discordant sound one minute in. The track goes back and forth between the clean sound, the heavy discordant sound and another melodic sound in the middle.
5. Long with a simple driving riff. The drums are busy the entire time. The track does go through a number of changes including a long melodic middle section with lots of bass.
**6. Quiet beginning with clean guitar, lots of changes and a bit more complicated than the other tracks.
**7. One of the heavier tracks leaning towards a hardcore sound but very heavy. This reminds me of a CULT OF LUNA track.
Good stuff -mph
