It’s time to unleash your inner Fatima with this hot collection of shimmery, slinky, hip-shaking dance music. Both traditional and more pop-oriented songs from the middle east & north Africa. It’s all bellydance, so there’s a great similarity in sounds, but all so good. Now, where did I put those finger cymbals?
1. Richly orchestrated, at about 2:50 changes rhythm. Instr.
*2. Dishy fem vox, lots of strings, perc, midtempo.
3. An Egyptian classic, midtempo instr. Well played.
4. Too short, cool tabla, violin & oud. Mid/downtempo & elegant.
*5. Way cool, upbeat percussion jam. Instr. Yow!
*6. Swirling flute, perc, soaring vox. Mid/up, a very cool sound.
*7. Lively perc/claps/rich fem vox. An older recording, but good.
8. Midtempo instrumental w/good blend of flute/perc.
9. A 12-min epic w/a strong N. African feel. Sweeping & delicious.
10. Up/midtempo w/great blend of perc/oud/strings. Good solos.
*11. Upbeat pop/rai/bellydance blend. Fem vox, cool perc.
12. A solid, traditional sound. Mid/uptempo, well played.
*13. Midtempo, a catchy beat w/extra good perc/strings.
*14. Starts fast, slows down. A great tabla showcase.
