Collection of modern dub remixes from all over (mostly Europe). All vocals in English – sometimes much too commercial “modern R&B” for my tastes, but by and large the music is well produced and often excellent.
I think there may be a “shit” on track 5. Tracks 4, 6 and 8 IMO best.
1. (Germany) midtempo shuffle, very relaxed, smooth-jazz groove. Nice classic-style toasting, rather commercial sounding singing.
2. ***(New Zealand) Jazz horns intro, then bit of silence, then midtempo roots rock bubble. Relaxed and pleasant. Male harmonies and hip hop vocalists. Nice horns, song gets better as it goes along.
3. **(UK) slightly downtempo riddim, very old-school rock steady sound, but female vocals very much modern R&B, original rock steady male vocals.
4. ****(Denmark) random noises and fast Jamaican talking, then rather downtempo dubby roots rock with female vocals, male rap, all about cheating man. Gets very dubby in second half of song.
5. **(Sweden) (may be FCC – “shit”) midtempo roots rock with hip hop vocals in English about love. Nice music, rapping is kind of iffy.
6. *****(Jamaica/Germany) somewhat uptempo dancehall skank with great dub noises, fun rap – it’s all good!
7. **(Denmark) cool midtempo dub bounce, female vocals, a bit suggestive.
8. ****(?) downtempo dub skank with lots of horns, female vocals.
9. **(Canada) downtempo and downbeat dub bubble, female vocals, slow male dancehall vocals. The music is great, the vocals annoy me…
10. ***(France) ethereal electronics and tabla, then midtempo dub skank, great sound.
11. **(Denmark) midtempo electronic bloops, male pop vocals with heavy reworking.
