Pleasant, rather dubby rock steady Reggae from Brazil. Although the music is top-notch, many of the lyrics are a bit banal, which kept the stars down on a lot of tracks…
No FCCs. Tracks 7 and 11 are very nice indeed.
1. 2:57 ***jaunty slightly uptempo rock steady instrumental.
2. 3:50 **dubby midtempo rock steady, simple but pretty song.
3. 2:35 ***midtempo rock steady, keyboard-driven, bits of calypso guitar, cute song about rudeboy.
4. 3:00 **downtempo rock steady skank with dubby overtones, cool song.
5. 3:14 ** slow solo vocal and guitar strum intro, then uptempo ska. Nice rhythm section and melodica, song itself is only ok.
6. 4:16 *midtempo, slightly dubby roots skank, great instruments, whiny song.
7. 5:22 ****uptempo roots skank, starts soft, dubby sound and melodica. Decent song, and lots of interesting sounds.
8. 2:54 *sprightly somewhat uptempo roots skank, nice horns, tolerable song.
9. 2:50 *uptempo ska, love song.
10. 4:23 *slow roots skank, nice instrumentals but rather shoe-gazing lyrics. They even stole a lyric from the Beatles!
11. 4:43 ****uptempo rock steady skank – in Brazilian Portuguese, thank god. Particularly nice horns.
