Funkstörung - Appendix
IDM/glitch remixology. Mostly hit but sometimes miss, highly rhythmic glitchy/IDM remixes by a German duo. When it works, they are beautiful reinterpretations that sound like like Autechre or Twerk or Accelera Deck. When they miss, they sound like they’re really trying to make lame club booty hits. FCC Clean. Picks: 5, 4, 6, 11, 7, 9
1. Male vocals with “funky” bass and IDM beat. A miss, -1 stars. [4:29]
2. Faux-booty beats with more “funky” female vocals. Another miss. [4:09]
3. Heavy bass and keyboard with chopped vocals and nice IDM-highlights. [4:35]
**4. Great glitch beats and an interesting take on the original track, with lots of echo put on Björk’s voice. [4:39]
***5. Very beautiful, organic electronic touches accompany on an ethereal voice that sounds like it is going to save me from whatever I need saving from. [4:17]
**6. Straight up glitch, complex rhythms along with a simpler synth part. [4:13]
**7. Tropical IDM! Cheerful beat, with unintelligible vocal line in the back. [3:47]
8. Turns the Raveonettes into the electro-rock of Stereo Total, with more snarl. [3:29]
*9. Darker-sounding instrumental, lotsa stuff going on at once. [4:03]
10. Blah, miss, cheesy pop R&B vocals. [5:20]
**11. Double Track: Nice and attention-grabbing beat and fuzzy rock guitar/bass and drums, with reggae-inflected vocals. At 3:51, downsamples out, picks back up at 4:55 with a nice intense Warp-IDM-electro sounding remix of Richard Devine. [9:13]
