Bob & Gene "If This World Were Mine..." - Sweet soul from the late 60's/early 70's out of Buffalo, NY. Songs range from beautiful slow-dance ballads, to grooving soul, to funkier bouncing tunes. Horn arrangements are tight, nice organ and guitar, simple drums and solid bass work. Vocals are fantastic. Great male vocals with solid lyrics. Please take the time to read the liner notes for the full story. The quick story is that Bob & Gene were 15 and 16 respectively. They wrote all the songs (except the Marvin Gaye cover) and Bob's father William Nunn recorded the whole thing. The full album was never released. Our friends at Daptone have rescued this wonderful album and now you get to hear it. This is soul music at it's best. Think Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Sharon Jones, Lee Fields, etc. Every single song is wonderful. Play this!!!!
My Picks: 2, 4, 8, 9 Fcc clean

)Slow midtempo. Nice horn section with beautiful smooth male vocals. Nice wah-wah guitar. Nice steady groove and some great lyrics. It's a love song, but with some social commentary too.
)Nice driving bass line. Ooo... sweet sax adds to fun bumping funky groove. Great harmonizing vocals and some nice organ in there too. Wow!
)Slower soul ballad. Nice horn section and great vocals, some falsetto. Gets way funky towards the end.
)Slow midtempo sweet soul. Simple guitar and bass line. Sounds like flute in there. Great lyrics. Very cute and gets a bit of a funkier bounce towards the end. So nice!
)Midtempo bounce. Carefree and fun. Great bass line and fun horns. Lyrics are a nice juxtaposition to the fun music, talking about losing your love but hopeful to find someone new.
)Piano a bit more prominent. Slower midtempo. Horns are more in the background. Same wonderful vocals, but this seems like a slightly more lo-fi recording.
)Slow soulful instrumental. Nice organ. The title says it all.
)A bit more big-band soul sound. Slower ballad. Grab someone and slow dance. Wow!!! This is great!
)Light-hearted and fun. Funky bounce with some strings on top. Damn!! Great lyrics and a killer breakdown section that kicks it all the way to the end.
)Nice spoken intro that goes into a solid midtempo soul bounce. Lowdown groove that's a bit funky. Cute and fun, but lyrics are a bit sad.
)Slow and sweet. Great harmonizing on vocals. Dreamy organ sounds. Beautiful.
)Marvin Gaye cover. Slower midtempo with nice play between guitar and organ. Nice string arrangement. It's hard to believe these guys were only 15 and 16 when you hear the vocals. Just beautiful.
