Alternative country rock. Bluegrass/country instrumentation, mostly
male vocals, plus a pump organ and some horns. Sounds like the
country she broke your heart to, but it rocks. I especially like when
the fiddle cuts loose. Ranges from haunting to hillbilly lilting,
with an occasional electric guitar drum-set high-tempo rocker. These
folks come out of Lubbock, TX, but add their own style to rootsy,
country, folk rock. I like it. Picks: 3, 7, 9. FCC Clean
1. lilting guitar, fiddle, drums, sassy syncopated male vocals.
2. electric bass, female vocals, plodding rhythm, short fiddle duet
halfway through.
**3. begins like an orchestra warm-up (nice) with low moan, fiddle,
and then goes into mid-tempo guitar and banjo picking with male
vocals. Tempo picks up throughout. Eases toward pop rock with breaks
for horns.
4. cello and mid-fast guitar strum - fiddle joins with voice and the
drums gain centrality - there are breaks for the fiddle to rock out.
cello/fiddle duet slows the thing down at the end to a 15 second long
electronic haze to fade out.
5. lilting ballad with male vocals.
6. slow rock entrance to female ballad backed by electric guitars.
ends with a slow fiddle solo.
***7. intrumental. nice slide guitar with fiddle and electric. sad
and moaning. sunset in a saloon - with an amp.
8. purest country on this album. mid-tempo lilt with slow fiddle
breaks. Also, tinkly piano.
**9. tinkly pump organ from a carousel. then haunting rock ballad
with hints of eastern europe and hillbilly.
10. fast, tempo-pushing drums and male vocals. fiddle break.
**11. brief instrumental. pump organ with marching band drums. a
little oom pah pah.
12. acoustic guitar ballad.
