A typically varied Global Rhythm compilation. Music from all over the map – both literally and musically. Good stuff. From Global Rhythm magazine.
1. Slow, lush bandoneon/cello duet. Like a chamber tango. Instr.
*2. A happy Caribbean flavor to this deliciously bright track.
3. Sexy electronica w/fem Portuguese vox & a relaxed groove.
4. Slow, hypnotic Indian raga w/tabla/sitar/fem vox.
*5. Slow, great fem harmonies w/strings. Kinda new agey, but good.
6. Starts slow, picks up. Driving drums. Fem vox in a repeated chant.
*7. Hip, upbeat, wiggly belly-dance. Silly lyrics, but fun.
*8. Midtempo gypsy-jazz influenced folk dance. Too short.
*9. Sweet, relaxed Italian folk w/strings/accordion/fem vox. Nice.
10. Mostly mid folk w/emotional male vox. Picks up & gets angry.
11. Spoken intro, cool straight jazz w/a tight small combo sound.
12. Warbly fem vox in a relaxed indie pop sound. A bit overdone.
13. Stars quiet, then a mid/upbeat pop ballad w/lots of noise.
14. Lazy guitar/vox in a gritty rootsy/folksy story song.
15. Upbeat dancefloor groove w/kinda lame lyrics. A bit disco-ish.
