influence. Played with energy and verve, quite lively stuff even when it's in a sparse mode.
DISK ONE
1-4: Brash and playful, characterized by loud pulses (1) but with coolly jazzy elements (2, 4). Weird artsy guitar on 2.
5: Slowly tense, w/classical air; gets big and loud
6-11: A quiet, slowish suite with lots of improv in a sparse vein. Exotic flute and tribal drum on 6 make a good intro; acoustic guitar on 8, soft trumpet on 9 and 10. Luau beat on 11 for a big, stern finale.
DISK TWO
12- Tumbing fast. Jazzy piano and fusiony guitar. Really gets the blood flowing.
13- Fast tribal drumbeat with weird vocal groans, fun
14- Playful orchestral doodles and stomps. Opens with quietness, then a big swirly attack
15- Goofily overdramatic and shrill, w/weird vocal words (German?), then fast-paced backing for solos
16- Wacky off-kilter march theme, w/straight-jazzy solos. Ending includes a quiet, artsy stretch
17- Rattly percussion, then a careful quiet air. Second half starts quiet, builds to a big crashing finale
