The first compilation of SF’s Three Ring Records comprised of mostly exclusive and rare indie rock, pop, and folk songs. Compilation profits are donated to At The Crossroads – a SF nonprofit that has support services for homeless youth.
NO FCCs Lots of FAVS: 3, 5, 7-9, 11-13, 15, 20, 22 - natalie
– a decent cover of a Smiths song – they generally stick to the same sound of the song, vocals aren’t as great as Morissey’s of course
– (LOCAL) Cute, mellow folk song; soft male vox, floating and poppy acoustic guitar; HS bball drama – friends, parents, playing the game, etc
– Old West sound; ghostly and dark w/ western/spanish guitar picking, echoey steel string guitar, deep and sultry male vocals; lullaby-ish
– slow/midtempo song w/some jazz elements – sax, jazz tapping drums, piano; vocals aren’t very strong
– starts minimal w/typewriter sounds and fuzziness, then vocals; builds into low/mid-tempo feel-good indie pop song
– (LOCAL) slow/sad indie song; mostly organ and sad male vocals; ab being a teenager in Oakland, getting caught up in drugs and crime
– (LOCAL) great remix of Framer Framed – a dark and dancey electronic song; groovy, bass heavy beat, sexy female vocals
– upbeat indie rock tune; long intro, fun and poppy drums and guitar
– (LOCAL) lo fi poppy garage rock sound w/acoustic guitar, tambourine and strong female vocals (ends abruptly)
– (former local band, now in Brooklyn) electronic remix of Jesse James, dark and eerie w/keyboards and guitar layered w/club beats
– (LOCAL) “rock noir” - pretty and floating folk song; wandering female vocals full of longing, acoustic guitar and piano
– (LOCAL) folk pop song with guitars and keyboard/organ; feels summery w/cute lyrics ab being carefree w/a girl
– soft indie pop song – hopeful and thoughtful; simple sing song melody w/gentle acoustic guitar and drums
– (LOCAL) lo-fi electro pop w/simple electro keyboard beats – vocals feel a bit too dramatic for the electro pop sound
– (LOCAL) slow and floating, has a soaring psych rock sound w/heavy 60s bass lines and organ
– (LOCAL) indie lo-fi sing-along song w/male vox & quick strumming guitar
– contemporary alt. rock type song, female vocals w/sparse guitars
– (LOCAL) indie pop piano based song
– (LOCAL) catchy/upbeat, poppy male vox; a song to bop your head to w/cutesy keyboards & vocals; about dating diff girls that don’t work out
– the faint are on this comp, woa! awesome dancepunk type song w/heavy and fast bass hooks, dancey beat and jangly guitars
– (LOCAL) dark and catchy song w/interesting mix of heavy bass, soaring electric guitars and U2 like vocals
– minimal and simple structure – a little weird and silly but I like it; mostly xylophone and handclaps; deep male vocals, half talking, w/strange lyrics that are suggestive of sex
