Local experimentalist, recorded live in the East Bay. A perfect melding of looping ambience and downtempo narcotic trippiness. A must for Trip Over Zero and Emphysema for Emphasis alike. Beautiful stuff.
From CD Baby: “…recorded during a ritual performance in Oakland, California in July 2007. Here, the usual suspects gathered to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting ears of the Bay Area Swan Collective along with other poets, the steel horse artists and patrons of Godspeed. …live electronic improv was augmented by the driving beats…The result is a sound just smooth enough to swallow, laced with a seductive krautrock bite, subtly reminiscent of Can. Born in the moment, each track documents a unique chamber within the ritual space. Sometimes ambient and reflective, sometimes drilled with body rocking beats, this is music that travels from point to point, playing like a motion picture soundtrack. The transitions are so smooth it’s hard to tell when one track ends and another starts. Haunting vocals, tribal beats, space age blip, and sinister loops give musical expression to high experience with all of its horror and delight…”
1) looping ambience with creepy low end and spooky tones, fades into next track
2) where low drones take center along with somewhat wailed female vocalizations and more creepy ambience, slight percussion that builds rhythmically, long track
3) this builds in a subtle ambient loop into even more rhythmic hypnotic quality stuff, percussion figuring highly, like a drum circle on some 5th dimensional planet
4) near tribal, rhythmic, still trippy
5) ambient with echoey female vocalizations
6) downtempo mindfulness with female near-subliminal speaking
7) takes the downtempo feel of the previous and turns it into a looping quality with intensity
