Powerful and fast blackened/thrashin’ death metal from Colorado with plenty of lyrics about ‘ol Nick. This band goes back the 80’s and was then a side project of power metallers Jag Panzer. This however, is a zillion miles from shiny, happy pants power metal instead you get ugly, heavy and often vicious extreme metal. A few filler moments but otherwise, a solid release.
((1)) Spooky intro about “opening wide the gates of hell”. Meh, about as evil as Vincent Price on the Muppet Show.
(((((2))))) Mellow intro then melodic metal with a few flourishes then takes off into a raging black/death direction
(((3))) Fast to mid paced and back again. Some decent blasting.
((((4)))) Slow build to a jagged, groove pattern that pummels & jackhammers along nicely. Lots of Morbid Angel-ish “spiraling” effect, too.
(((((5))))) Thick, riffy and totally ‘bangin’ !
(((((((6)))))) More of the same as #5, rapid fire blasting, intense riffing, screams of “Sataaaan!”
((7)) Guitar solo interlude thing. Leave it for the live show.
((((8)))) Straight up battering vs. epic death metal with really good breakdowns, too.
((((9)))) Thrashy black/death with one evil talon in the 80’s and the other in right now. Radness!
(((10))) Thick and dense, odd-metred riffing and blasts that don’t work too well.
(((11))) Pretty decent mid-paced to blasting
(((12))) Mellow-ish interlude.
(((((13))))) Slow intro then a nasty cut of over the top, black/death with ever increasing speed. 2nd half of this is ruling!
