Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds dish up a nearly “accessable” cd replete with listenable songs, not too morose, definitely thought provoking. Of course he retains his trademark rootsy dark hip grinding drama that makes him, well, Nick Fucking Cave. But somehow the songs will fit in with more eclectic sets than just your basic dark depressive goth-rock realm. These guys are aging, and I think they are aging really well. Almost like an old Springsteen fan would like this as much as a Skinny Puppy or This Mortal Coil fan would. Highly recommended. Highly.

1) smarmy hip grinding rock, title song
2) upbeat almost poppy with a catchy synth line
3) more traditional storytelling, with Hammond pensive
4) cool dark tones as rhythm, interesting
5) even a “sha la la la” refrain to this more poppy one
6) again, some cool guitar tones, and the refrain sounds pretty epic, this one sounds like the “hit”, so play this one if you play only one
7) slight western, gospel, dark and ballady
8) upbeat rockin, somehow this reminds me of “hey ya” by Outkast but maybe I’m crazy, regardless, I feel like jumping jump and shaking my aging ass
9) mid paced ballady
10) upbeat a bit, almost pretty
11) again, a nice guitar hook and near-pop feel, just a good soul-full song, with a good feel, mid paced, hip swinging, like something you’d want to dance to with a really really sexy mate
