Howes wanted to Amoeba this but I deemed it “Novelty” if not downright absurd, hilarious and oh so incredibly brilliant for all the wrong reasons. Yeah, picture Snoop Dog in his limo “rapping” to a smarmy remix of walk the line. Well, don’t picture it, just listen. I cant really do much of a track by track because my jaw is blocking the keyboard.
1) Walk the Line: with Snoop a mile away (!?!?!?) 2) Big River: pretty straight, not treated much 3) a slight club electro version of Get Rhythm, sheesh….4) Doin’ My Time: big beat dance feel
5) Country Boy: another dance song, ho boy, check out the “backing vocals”….. 6) Leave that Junk Alone: oh man, this is ironic on too many levels
7) very quiet intro, somber and chill
8) Folsom Prison Blues: oh this is great, genuinely great, just a cool funky rhythm to the mostly untouched original
9) Straight A’s in Love: treated as hell but so good!!
10) Sugar in the Morning given a fun heavier beat
11) upbeat and driving but still with the backbeat
12) deep and heavy beat
13) Lonesome Whistle: wow, like almost experimental! Echoey and downtempo, trippy and good, watch false ending midway, keep it playing
