Guitarist/vocalist from Mars Volta’s solo work: wall of sound proggy complex swirling masses of excellence. Parts would make Soft Machine blush, Jesus Lizard look up from nodding off, King Crimson step down, Lightning Bolt pass on the torch, Ornette Coleman blow even harder, Mr Bungle turn to thorazine. This is some pretty serious full on noise rock with bizarre sounds and electronics, great musicianship and direction. Incredible!!
1) cool complex beat, progginess turns into a complex mass of swirling insanity
2) a dubby echo on the simple snare beat to start off this decidedly chill trippy smattering
3) has some seriously noisey electronics, lush
4) slow almost chill if it weren’t for all the bizarre treatments and sounds going on
5) starts chill but ends up decidedly free jazz, crazy, with lots of horn blowing, would fit right in with Miles or Ornette Coleman, then devolves into serious electronic noise and tape sounds
6) brief: samples of eastern flavored bells, street music on that street scene in Blade Runner
7) going ballistic all over with intense tempo changes, shades of Mr Bungle here
8) brief, with Frippy guitars, a collage of sorts
9) wow, Eno/Talking Heads trippy electronic tones, Frippy dissonance and a stoned dubby undercurrent with samples, just a complete acid trip in a track
10) drumless very treated crazy melodic guitar with swirling acid electronics, about 3 min in it becomes one of the more “normal” songs if only because it’s a genuine live in-studio rock out jam which is really fucking good, I might argue the monster jam to end all (yes, on par with Electric Ladyland)!!!
