Squeeky Rice “Our Band Could Be…” Indie experimental folk - Music sounds like chance happenings that have been sneakily organized; bird calls, ukeleles, saws, clarinets, even a squeaky toy all blend together with some more standard piano, cello and guitar for an experimental sound you can stomach. Female vox are wispy and wandering with harrowing hramonies. Essentially, this San Francisco trio mixes Joanna Newsom’s strings & vocals with Architecture in Helsinki’s kooky noises & community feel. Check them out - this is unique stuff. Plus, their genre on iTunes is listed as “holiday” – quite funny. FCC 2

1) *** a tour of sounds; tribal escalating vocals, synth, palpitating percussion moves to bells, plucky acoustic guitar, odd sound effects (boings! and the like)
2) *** FCC “tits” “ass” Tribal flute, distant guitar, eclectic percussion; wandering vocals about newt gingrich & Ecuador (listen closely for the squeaky toy!)
3) **darker sound – Tom waits with bells if you can believe it
4) **great flute, lovely build, soulful vocals, HORNS; it’s upbeat & instruments are wonderful but the vox sound a bit off to me but give it a try
5) * simple piano chords, strings are plucky with some harp and cello; wanders off into space at the end
