Jihae – Elivs is still alive Sultry, soft yet powerful vocals lull the listener alongside twangy guitar, regular drums. Korean singer songwriter with soul – this is a Neko Case/Aimee Mann! Cover is odd-ball but do not be mislead Jihae (“Jee-heh”) is actually not an Elvis imitator. She was born in S. Korea & has lived in Nigeria, Sweden, UK and is now in NYC exploring visual arts as well. Give it a listen when you want to be pensive or just spaced out!
No FCCs from what I can tell. Start with #4, 7 - Basil
1) mix of styles: from white stripes-esque simple rockin elements to dreamy pop
2) * nice twangy, vibrating guitar, slow percussion, beautiful vocals
3) ** duet, more upbeat; guy has a cool Bowie-like voice; great combo chorus
4) *** deep guitar plucks match rise in vox; strings & husky vocals = beauty
5) ** spacey music, distant vocals; tune it out w/ about :35s left!
6) ** starts a bit sad, mellow; displays neko case-esque power of her vox; nice build @ end w/ some electro noises, great guitar riff & rumblin drums
7) ***beautiful, soft vocals w/ only subtle, quiet instruments; get into the trance!
8) ** dreamy, slow; breathy voice w/ electric guitar mirroring the vox
9) WOW! FEEDBACK and DISTORTION! Grungy, dragging vocals, slappy drums, shredding guitar
