Richard Swift: The Atlantic Ocean: Fairly upbeat, falling somewhere between acoustic light rock and country-ish singer-songwriter. Lots of solid piano chords and plucky guitar, usually a swaying sound. Sounds like a less melancholic version of Other Lives (check em’ out if you haven’t!), or a less cluttered version of Dead Heart Bloom. FCC clean. Try 5, 1, 9, 10
1) Bouncy piano chords on this title track.
2) Raw-sounding synths, lilting piano.
3) Country-ish guitar and vocals.
4) Cool little melodic violin interlude in between woodwind and piano.
5) Lots of different sounds for such a relatively short piece!
6) Exceptionally silly-sounding synths!
7) The intro sounds just like the middle break from MGMT’s “Kids.” The comparisons stop there. Melodic strings, calm, guitar and vocals.
8) A melody you feel like you should lackadaisically sway along to.
9) Doleful brass and crooning vocals, minor piano chords.
10) More downbeat honky-tonk piano, intriguing melody lines.
11) Retro sounding drums and piano, with some synths mixed in.
