Classic Heavy Fuckin’ Metal made by the Black Sabbath line up of 1980-82 (and 1992-93). Rather awesome performances all around even if the songs aren’t 100% “on” at every turn. Dio’s voice is fantastic and Iommi is Iommi! What else do can you say about the man that invented an entire genre with three notes?!? If you know anything about heavy music the names Dio, Iommi and Butler and (maybe even Appice) should resonate for you - if not, ya might as well be dead!
(((((1))))) Perfect opening riff, then epic & doomy and soaring.
((((2)))) More of a groove and a very melodic, rather 80’s chorus. Dio’s top notch here. Nice fills by Appice.
(((((3))))) Slow ballady, (NOT the VH-1 fluffy kind, there’s a HUGE difference!) then thundering into a very 80’s Sabbath styled rocker. Butler’s ace on the bass and Dio can simply sing “blaaaack” and it’s a winnah!
(((4))) A little too light in the chorus & build up but Butler and occasionally Iommi play well.
(((5))) Good build up, sounds modern without being shitty or trendy, a tad too slow in overall approach but has some good moments before the solo and acoustic break.
((((6)))) Great opening riff & bass work, a little iffy in the choruses but pretty solid once it gets going.
(((7))) Fast-ish and steady. Iommi’s very late 80’s wailing sounds out of place and off putting. Though Dio sounds just fine. Odd tune.
(((((8)))) Near perfect blend of the best of Iommi & Dio’s abilities. The bass resonates nicely and the drumming underscores the riffs just fine.
((((9)))) Steady tempo & rockin’, odd-vocal cadence at first but it eventually works. Good solos from Iommi.
((((((10)))))) Amazing DOOM riffs from the master, soaring vocals from Dio that shine around the chorus and some good fills from Appice. Strangely sounds a bit like “Shame on the Night” by Dio only much heavier
