12 and 15 year old sisters from NYC who have become the darlings of an all-star cast of hipsters including Bowie, Gibby Haynes, Kimya Dawson, Karan O, blah blah blahs. Recorded mostly using Garageband and then massaged by the likes of the above in NYC most cynics might attribute this to being a heavily produced novelty. I cant venture a guess (maybe it is, maybe not). Regardless this is some undeniably joyful noisey pop that brings back the elation of fresh twee pop with grinding girl punk, 60’s garage and noise. Twangy and distorto guitar, vocs through cheap mic emulator. Great stuff for fans of Red Aunts, Muffs, Mouldy Peaches, Cobra Killer, Cornershop.
1) simple head nodding beat, bursts of noise, distorto guitar, twang, and fuzzy sassy treated voc samples
2) “hit quality” with driving and city-shout-out chorus
3) totally totally infectious beat, if you don’t like this then you are dead to the world and need help (or youre an insufferable snob)
4) mid paced, man this song reminds me so much of Cornershop… help me
5) bouncy, fun gleeful pop a la the 60s or 70s
6) a little “scratchin’” feel, funky rock, smarmy
7) upbeat rockin feel
8) big beat with layers of samples, verse/theme suggestive
9) a nice 60’s garage bounce to this
10) drum machine loop, fun
11) a bea-utiful spoof on materialistic fashionistas that todays female youth have become, punky
