A direct descendent of the dreamy alternative rock established by U2 and Radiohead. Sounds like Doves, British Sea Power, Great Northern. Unfortunately this is not near the “shoe”gazing I expected from the black marker on the jewel case. I really need to start previewing what I take home at the station. The first few tracks are all right but as the album progresses, it sounds more generic and boring. No FCCs.

*1. Instrumental. Slow, whispery intro, light keys, atmospherics, dreamy guitars, light feedback, spaced out vocals, dynamic shift in tempo, upbeat electric piano, swirling guitars. Great track. (6:58)
2. Spaced out rock riffs and lots of hi-hat, vocals come in, energetic song with rhythmic guitars, big pianos and production. (5:14)
3. More dream rock, big synthesizers, acoustic guitar, piano, a touch of Flaming Lips? Shouty vocals in outro? (4:12)
4. A total U2 vibe on this one… from the guitar to the vocals, rhythmic electronic sequencers, (4:38)
*5. Strings, lots going on in this track, spacey effects, warbling synths, tambourines, intense vocal performance, bleeping, atmospheric conclusion. (4:42)
6. Kind of a bad alt-rock track. Sounds a little like The Strokes then the chorus comes in with a cringe worthy Franz Ferdinand dance section. Last thirty seconds are field recordings. (5:02)
7. Faint vocals and more straightforward alt-rock with some swirling guitars. Outro is driving with rhythm. (4:11)
8. Drum loop with dance percussion comes in with dark synthlines. Ugh… rest of track blends together with the rest of this. (4:12)
9. Jingly pianos and distorted electric guitars with mellotron or something padding the track, sleigh bells? (4:02)
10. Nondescript. High vocals, some bubbling effects, more of the same. (5:23)
*11. Piano lightly tinkles, whooshing sounds, acoustic guitar, sad, slow, low-key. (4:16)
