Castanets/ Texas Rose, The Thaw, and The Beasts
Indie folk, alt/gothic-country. Music definitely based upon the clash of folk/country and avant-garde/ psychedelia. Pitch-dark music with organic and cool electronic textures. Surprise! There are surf-like chords in here and synths. This music conveys a sense of natural unease and danger, with unvarnished vocals and sounds from what might be a godforsaken roadhouse. Keeps a trance-like soundscape. Similar to a more electronic, experimental Mountain Goats, or Deer Tick and Phosphorescent. Try: 3, 4, 6, 8 & 9,
1. **reminds me of Bright Eyes plus Fleet Foxes with a new array of sounds in backdrop. Stark vocals over folky backup and catchy acoustic guitar and soundscape 2. **slower track, light synths and acoustic plucking, nice dreamy vocals 3. ***darker, steadier acoustics guitar and beat paired well with vocals experimental percussion toward end 4. ****funky, static like beat with thumping bass, nice vocals 5. **simple drumbeat, vocals reminiscent of trance-spoken, haunting guitar riffs, slow, dark, psychedelic 6. **lighter acoustic guitar, melancholic vocals transitions into strange sounds then to guitar, note really quiet sections 7. instrumental, almost jazz melody in background with layers of drone masking synths 8. ****beautiful opening, slow, contemplative vocals over melodic guitar and some piano picks up to energetic guitar and drums with synth backdrop 9. **** transitions well from last track. space synth sounds, dreamy and bright with folk vocals 10. quiet opening synth, trembles and moves to gradually higher pitch and worldly sound 11. FCC!! Warning!! beautiful, very mountain-goats-bright-eyes-esque. nice acoustic sound and folk vocals
