Glittery, modern-rock shoegaze with crisp vocals. Seems like an effort to distinguish and polish their sound (and probably to stop attracting so many Smashing Pumpkins comparisons). A little monotonous and over-orchestrated as a result, but still some standouts. My picks: 1, 5. FCC clean.
– Andy
- Upbeat, poppy; simple, catchy, two-note riff. 7 seconds of almost-silence at beginning, ends at -0:56, with a spacey outro following
- String parts and distorted guitar accents give this an unfortunate video-game-soundtrack feel, but solid choruses break out of it.
- Starts with slow tempo, bass/ambient synth with electric noodling, heavy vocal reverb; gradual, effective build in intensity.
- Chunky guitar riffs, some weird androgynous vocals on verses, sprawling choruses with more strings.
- Nice bass riff, unadulterated shoegaze guitar, vocal harmonies, choruses that stand out.
- Slow, quiet number, rises and falls rather than going for another long crescendo.
- Heavy, brooding, mid-tempo.
- Simple, bright; lo-fi guitar and clean vocals are refreshing.
- Sparse, with interesting conjoined bass/guitar parts. Well-used strings toward end.
- Darkened pop song; slow stretch in middle then picks back up.
