Heavy freagin metal! Simple, straight, and to the point. Shredding guitars, with no unnecessary wanking around, thunderous drumming, brutal in-your-face vocals. Despite its directness there's something subtle about this stuff, and it's definitely pretty epic... Don't know exactly what you call this. Doom metal? Sludge? Sludgecore? It's great either way. These guys must be awesome live, and it's amazing if you think that they're just a duo. For fans of High On Fire, Big Business, Helmet. Highly recommended! To paraphrase Brick, this is the sort of album that Ragnar would fill with parentheses all over the place.
Picks: 5, 4, 1, 3, 8 ***No FCCs***
*1. Yup, that's the right way to start an album... No fooling around, we're here to kick your butt
2. More on the energetic side, sounds a lot like High On Fire
*3. Dark, doomy intro gives way to this more sludge sounding piece. Big, epic, heavy
**4. Quite a sense of urgency here. I just love the guitarist... Title track.
***5. This is the track to listen! Kick ass start-stop action. Great riffing and great tempo changes. Awesome!
6. Sounds a lot like Big Business. Nice little solo (one of the few) in the beginning. Midtempo
7. Faster, more thrash-metal sounding.
*8. Again this little start-stop action. Nice
9. Starts acoustic, totally doomed out (what else with a title like Nefarian Triangle). Then at around the minute mark it gets loud.
