Pat Grossi has been both a choirboy and a harpist, but now he’s releasing indie. And he’s pretty darn good at it. Think Animal Collective (had they spent more time studying music and less time taking drugs) meet-ing up with Grizzly Bear to release an album on Sincerely Yours. Fantastic.
FCC: Clean
Try: 3 (forget the first 30 seconds), 1, 6, 2
1) * 4:38 Long intro. Rattling drum machine, falsetto male vocals and simple synth. There’s a harp, too. Electronic chamber pop.
2) * 5:08 Slow, meditative crazy reverb on drums. Fragile vocals, fuzzy synths. More harp, gets its time to shine in the instrumental outro.
3) **4:27 Starts out with an awful, cheesy electro sound. Gets so much better as soon as the vocals kick in. Esoteric heartbreak-pop.
4) 5:34 Cold retro electro sound. Prominent synth action, Cut Copy style.
5) 4:53 Dramatic. Pulsating synths throughout and Dave Gahan-style vocals (sorry for the lack of indie-cred).
6) * 4:55 Like Grizzly Bear with a shot of electronics added. Beautiful, swirling instrumentation.
