This is Cromwell’s second album (released in 2010), chock-full of traditional sounds like old jazz, country, country-blues, folk. Reminiscent of Taj Mahal. Voice a bit like Paul Simon or even Jakob Dylan. Great, great stuff. No FCC’s.
*My Favorites*: 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11.
1. *(3:10) Mid. Big fiddle, banjo presence, great minimal understated percussion. Kick ass.
2. (4:01) Slow / Mid. Easy-going, plodding beat, nice guitar work.
3. (5:24) Slow / Mid. Accordion start with guitar. Sparse and really laid-back. Ends a bit up with clarinet and percussion.
4. *(1:57) Mid. INSTRUMENTAL. Big tuba, great guitar, tambourine, it’s Dixie Jazz.
5. *(4:12) Mid. Upbeat, easy beat, bright guitar, harmonica. Bluesy and jazzy. Well done.
6. *(4:32) Mid. Tuba, percussion, guitar, really jazzy and folky. Great.
7. (3:42) Mid. Accordion, banjo beginning. Enter fiddle, guitar, percussion. Male and female vocals trade verses and harmonize.
8. *(4:39) Slow / Mid. Big beat, slow-paced vocal delivery, backing vocals including a bass.
9. (2:22) Slow. INSTRUMENTAL. Very mellow with banjo, accordion, guitar.
10. (3:04) Mid. Upbeat with banjo, drums, female backing vocals.
11. *(2:35) Mid. Upbeat with fiddle, banjo. Big sound with minimal stuff. Great.
12. (3:59) Slow / Mid. Mellow with nice guitar, bass, percussion.
