Electro-acoustic, collaborative avant genius. 60 musicians came together and submitted short clippings and snippings of electronic/laptop/turntable sounds to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Pierre Schaeffer’s Etudes de Bruits. Adkins compiled it all together in a meticulous, masterful way, creating slow, intellectual, experimental mixer-ambience on par with Fennesz. Empreintes Digitales sends us the best in “ambient noise collage art, rather than music” - Mandy Khoshnevisan, 2003. No FCCs.
1. Soft panning, slow tension build in clicking sounds, electronics. (7:51)
*2. Builds quickly to intense reversed samples, ringing tones; kind of like being trapped in the vortex in Poltergeist, trippy delayed percussion comes late. (8:13)
3. More clicky, very fractured, minimalistic background sounds, swirly digital noise. (6:03)
*4. Underwater, bubbly, violent submarine drone and experiments. Kind of frightening in parts. (9:01)
5. Thunderous and then gets airier and almost settles on that, ends with mooing cows and chirping birds. (7:05)
*6. Some sort of warped woodwind instrument plays alongside tape manipulation, waay reverbed/echoed out vocals, and clicktronics. (5:59)
7. Blistering, stop/start noise. Jliat fans, take note. (2:44)
8. Looping cooing, lots of weird vocal samples, and fast-tempoed sequenced percussion. Lengthy and definitely strange. (13:05)
