Highly recommended Japanese indie pop from Shugo Tokumaro. It’s super melodic, child-like, multi-instrumental, sugary stuff. Lots of bizarre instruments going on here. His style is so unique that it’s hard to describe tracks individually. It’s all good, but I recommend 3, 5, 7, and 12. No FCC’s (I assume, it’s all in Japanese).
1. Platform. Nice short instrumental melody. (0:45).
2. Tracking Elevator. Midtempo. Super happy. Repeats a semi-catchy melody throughout most of the song, changing its background to add progression. Cool breakdown at the end. (3:21)
3. *Linne. Slow and sweet, piano ballad. I assume it’s a ballad anyway. (3:51)
4. Lahaha. Insanely sugary pop. (3:12)
5. *Rum Hee. Midtempo, sweepy joy. (4:00)
6. Laminate. Slow melody. Interesting key changes. (4:00)
7. *River Low. Great chanting drive. Never fully builds but it’s fun listenining to it sound like it might get there. (2:19)
8. Straw. Great song. Nice acoustic tapping riff. (2:37)
9. Drive-Thru. Midtempo progression. (3:28)
10. Suisha. A mellow sweetness. Finger-snapping breakdown near the end. (3:16)
11. Orange. Slow and whistful music box melody. The last 1.5 minutes is fade-out worthy bird and carnival noises. (4:12)
12. **Malerina. Head-bobbing fun. (2:44)
