Apple Brains is the brain-child of L.A. ‘nutrition musician’ Allen Bleyle. Songs all about fruits and veggies and health for kids, but also fun for us grown-ups. Fun instrumentation with lots of effects, bordering on psychedelia. Very educational for the youngin’s and reminiscent of discovering the produce of the world for us oldin’s. Fun stuff throughout. No FCC’s.
*My Favorites*: 1, 2, 3, 11. 12.
1. *(2:19) Mid. Upbeat song about apple. Great sound of crunching the apple. Bizarre twist of the worm.
2. *(2:41) Mid. PB&J song. Really trippy effects, especially the mic. Oh, my, it’s so beautiful and disturbing, kids will surely be affected.
3. *(3:31) Mid. Water song. Alas, it just had to have some gurgling, slurping and swishing, with all of water’s important info. Fun stuff.
4. (2:21) Mid. My favorite food: Ba-Na-Nas! Where they grow, kids singing along.
5. (4:39) Mid. Fruits and veggies come in lots of different colors. ‘Jump all around ‘cause potatoes are brown!’ ‘Go burzurple ‘cause eggplants are purple!’
6. (2:25) Mid. Stone fruits with great pump organ (?).
7. (3:36) Mid / Fast. Kids growing like crazy by eating fruits and veggies and exercising. Fun instruments with double tempo toward end.
8. (3:08) Slow / Mid. Reggae beat. Song about the mango, including the sounds of a mango forest.
9. (3:07) Mid. Bi-lingual song in English / Spanish. Slight Mexicali sound, song about fruit. Psycho ending.
10. (3:51) Slow. Story song about tomatoes with kazoo and processed backing vocals.
11. *(2:28) Mid. Song by the Wonder Worm. Video game effects. Everywhere the worm can be found in our food.
12. *(3:03) Mid. Intro about the song. Rambling song about some fruits and ending with boogers and noses and fingers. Great.
