Great multi-instrumentalist from West Virginia, with a top-notch collection of folky, bluesy, American music. LaFleur plays a mean slide guitar, dobro, mandolin, etc. He’s got some great musicians backing him up as well. Some nice story-songs, a couple instrumentals, mix of originals / traditionals. Strong stuff throughout. No FCC’s.
*My Favorites*: 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12.
1. (3:52) Mid. Some nice guitar work on this traditional tune.
2. *(3:58) Mid. Upbeat folky tune with cool mandolin, slide, percussion.
3. (5:14) Slow / Mid. Dark mood with ominous bluesy slide, singing about Robert Johnson.
4. *(4:09) Slow / Mid. Beautiful cello, nice guitar, really sparse and sweet, song about singer’s mother quilting.
5. (2:44) Slow. Slide guitar, sparse and lots of room.
6. *(4:43) Slow / Mid. Minimal then gets fuller with guitar, drums, mandolin. Song about a relationship.
7. *(4:52) Mid. Slide intro with female vocals. Upbeat, driving, bluesy story-song with killer slide, percussion, handclaps, backing vocals. Good stuff.
8. (3:31) Mid. Ominous traditional tune with nice guitar, a bit sparse sounding.
9. *(3:34) Mid. Channeling sounds from the old country with guitar, cello, mandolin. Very nice.
10. *(3:18) Mid. INSTRUMENTAL. Killer slide guitar piece. Killer.
11. *(2:23) Slow / Mid. From the 18th century poet Robert Burns, Beautiful love song.
12. *(4:40) Mid / Fast. Title track. Driving guitar, killer slide, backing vocals. Fun bluesy-rocker story-song about Adam and Eve.
13. (3:24) Slow. INSTRUMENTAL. Mellow and heartfelt, for his dog, Paco.
