Ahh, good old James Blake. Sure, he released an album that seemed to be closer to Sam Cooke than Skream, but now that he’s safely back on R&S, it’s time for more futuristic bass music sounds. This EP sounds fairly similar to his previous R&S releases as well as his early Hemlock/Hessle stuff. That is, you should prepare yourself for quality bass music, heavily manipulated vocals, and twists and turns at every corner, all with a melodic touch. Fans of Blawan, Mount Kimbie, and SBTRKT should give this a spin.
Try: 1, 2 FCC: Clean

1) 5:35 * Future house/bass. Pacing hi-hats, playful synthesizer line, sweet Rhodes riffs and vocal snippets. “Love what happened here.”
2) 4:35 * Dark. Distant vocal samples, driving dub feel. Industrial static noise, warm key stabs.
3) 4:19 Trashy dub. Slow, wobbly beat and some weird shaky horns.
