Crazy P: Walk Dance Talk Sing Label: !K7
This is a FABULOUS disco album!!! Crazy P is a UK-based Nu-Disco group formed by Chris Todd and Jim Baron back in 1998. Crazy P used to stand for "Crazy Penis" but fortunately the band dropped that name. The album itself features stellar vocals by Alice Russell and the entire thing sounds like someone time-transported Studio 54 into modern-day London studios. Crazy P is at its best when playing smooth disco - their ballads aren't as strong. #1 "Like A Fool" and #8 "Scrap the Book" are my favorites, sweet and smooth. But #2, #5, #10, and #11 are also strong.
1. "Like A Fool" 5:04 - Delicious smooth disco track. Sexy vox singing the title.
2. "The Come On" 5:41 - Straight up funk, great guitars & vox.
3. "Echo" 7:05 - Electro-flavored, with jammin' bass and a great groove.
4. "Cruel Mistress" 4:56 - A hint of heartbreak in this dramatic ballad.
5. "Magnetise" 6:12 - Cute electro-pop groove, bright sweet little melodies.
6. "Something More" 6:08 - Chill downtempo pop track w/ pleading vox
7. "Walk Dance Talk Sing" - Gentle vox melodies floating over guitar funk
8. "Scrap The Book" 4:20 - Super-sweet disco, catchy vocals, playful & light
9. "The Way" 3:53 - Ballad, mostly slow vocals and light piano, no beats
10. "Hear My Song" 5:12 - Groovy soulful funky disco w/ nice layers of vox.
11. "Witch Doctor" 7:59 - Disco-house w/ a great rolling bassline and vox.
