Managerial Material is the official debut 7” single by Oakland’s The World. The prolific band has also produced several recordings in recent months, including a rare flexi-single and tape compilations, in addition to songs on soundcloud. Their sound is sax/guitar driven, upbeat art punk with mutant disco tendencies. I particularly loved the quality of this single – crude, accelerated and chaotic. |
RIYL: Inflatable Boy Clams, The Bloods, Pink Section, The Mo-Dettes and Pulsallama.
Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 3, and 4
1. (2:05) **Managerial Material – Upbeat mutant disco punker with killer parallel sax/guitar riff. Arbitrary rhythm, surrealist non-sequential lyrics.
2. (2:28) *Talk – Medium-up tempo art school pop. Nonsense, lo-fi and effervescent.
3. (2:25) **It Takes Two – Sax and guitar riffs interact and sometimes dance separately. Almost instrumental. Medium tempo. Crude as it ever was.
4. (2:27) *In Pieces – More moments of art school pop disguised as music.
