Mexican Institute Of Sound + Toy Selectah Present: Compass is the first installment of a collaboration between producers Camilo Lara, the mastermind behind the Mexican Institute of Sound, and Toy Selectah, known for being an original member of legendary Mexican hip-hop group Control Machete and for his extensive work with the Mad Decent label. Similar to The Avalanches’ new album, this recording is full of impressive collaborations that cross genres, generations, and continents. This is essentially a dance album from the perspective of these two producers, who use cumbia, cha-cha-cha, tribal, freestyle, funk Carioca, and other “Latin” associated beats and sounds to create an exciting, non-stop, eclectic collection of well-crafted up-beat recordings with something for everybody’s taste.

RIYL: Mexican Institute Of Sound, Pizzicato Five, Chico Sonido, 3BallMTY and the compilation Rio Baile Funk: Favela Booty Beats.
