Move over bassy cello, it’s time for the contrabass clarinet to get down there amongst the weeds. Out of Chicago, John McCowen, has a background in the hardcore scene & you can just about hear these influences shining through on this release. Experiment with an avant-garde industrial flavour. Played a stunning set at the 2016 KZSU Day of Noise extravaganza, alongside, other notable Bay Area residents, Jacob Felix Heule & Aurora Josephson

Like: Hellvete for the heavy industrial & Gregg Skloff for the lighter deep bass sounds

All three are very good.

No FCC’s (Instrumentals)

1) Fur Korv (5.01) Low murmurings in this atmospheric bleak sound-scape.
2) Chopper HD (5.29) Intimidating & caustic, this is hardcore without the screaming – experimental style.
3) Berths 1-3 (16.35) This captures the previous two & puts them together for a proper amount of time. Slow & seductive to begin & then gradually building to an eerie high-pitched onslaught.
