COUNTRY(ISH) TEXAS SINGER-SONGWRITER

Seems like the sort of local (Dallas area) act that gets gigs at small clubs and bars. Standard fare, but good at times. Down-and-out, or pre- and post-breakup storytelling. Band has guitars, keys, bass & drums. RIYL (perhaps) Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Buffet.

No FCC issues.

1 ** Mid-tempo. Lighthearted, easy-going, contented. Nice singing & guitars. (3:30)
2 Mid-fast. More of a rocker; his voice doesn’t really suit it. (4:04)
3 * Mid-slow. Sort of a ballad, but sort of sarcastic & bitter. (4:14)
4 * Mid-fast. A big Southern, country-rock number. Good full-voiced vocal; strong lead guitar & drums. Much better than #2. (5:00)
5 Slow. Down & out situation. Depressing despite pleasing elec guitar & piano. (4:27)
6 Slow folk ballad. Just voice and simple acoustic strumming. Lonely & plaintive. (4:16)
7 Slow country-rock. Fuller sound with organ & guitar solo. Continued moodiness. (4:02)
8 ** Mid-tempo. Pulling himself together; making a change. Organ, lead guitar solos. (3:36)
9 Mid-tempo. Cloyingly awful. And in a sappy 6/8 to boot. Last dance? Gawd. (2:31)
10 * Fast. Finally moving on from that breakup. Much energy & high spirits. (4:06)
11 Slow. A total downer. He should have quit with track #10. (4:08)
