Angèle Dubeau is a celebrated violin virtuoso who plays on a 1733 Stradivarius. In 1997, she formed La Pietà, an all female string ensemble, with piano, and they have toured worldwide since. Max Richter is the most influential composer of his generation, having scored over 50 films, plus music for ballet, theater and TV series; he is also a pianist, producer, and remixer. His music is “equally inspired by Bach, punk rock and ambient electronica.” This CD is a Dubeau’s tribute selection from his works. The compositions tend to repeat a beautiful, lyrical melody many times, over rich harmonies, with slow changes in La Pietà’s accompanying musical texture.
