Dave Douglas – Keystone
Laid back, dark electronic jazz grooves from Douglas and his downtown NYC crew. Highlights are Jamie Saft's gloopy synths and Douglas' muted trumpet propelled by Gene Lake's excellent drumming. A tribute to Fatty Arbuckle's silent films, this set includes a DVD with Douglas' score which (strangely) doesn't really work at all, especially compared to the fantastic scores Bill Frisell did for some Buster Keaton films (available in the library, try 'Go West').
Great music, regardless.

*1. Nice chill groove
**2. Great laid back funk
3. Slow washes of sound
4. Light groove, a bit cheesy
**5. Sneaky electronic groove
6. Slow groove
*7. Great chill mood
**8. Driving analog synth funk
*9. Weird slo-mo electronics
*10. Spare dubby funk
*11. More of a modern bop sound
