Artist:
Agnostic Phibes Rhythm And Blood- Appalachian-styled bluegrass punksters. It would be biased to call this an easy listen, were talking low down and dirty, bluegrass, rockabilly, with a dominate delta blues feel.
Label:
Shoutin’ Abner Pim Recordings
1. (A Match To the Kindling)- use of guitar seems like the thesis of this album, if albums had thesis’s this song would be a excellent example. All in all a guitar solo with some background effects.(1:05)**
2. (Campfire Tales)-nice transition from track one in beginning, song builds up, opens up to singer which feels like your sitting around a campfire listening to this guy. (6:05)*
3. (Wolfman Franz)-More on the blues/folk side of things, this is a very interesting listen because of the interaction of blues and folk used as one (4:18)*
4. (Windigo Song)-Extremely upbeat, this is just screaming delta blues as it plays. Southern feel. But above all extremely fast paced, proceed with caution (4:49)**
5. (Voices)-Down tempo, extremely deep guitar, not an easy listen. (4:22)
6. (Neckin’ Party)-Another down tempo feel that develops into the traditional delta blues sound. Very traditional when considering delta blues. (4:55)***
7. (Wild Night Company)-Very upbeat, Instrumental, beat consists of complicated guitar harmon and a “Lone Ranger” feel (2:45)
8. (Who Fears The Devil?)-Real southern feel to this song, singer puts his heart into this one (4:15).
9. (Magpie & Skunk)- This has a rock feel rather than a blues feel, good harmonizing between guitar and vocals, songs sounds good and well crafted (3:09)**
10. (Respected)- More on the uptempo Blues feel, yet another song that has strong interests in the Southern fried sides of things.
11. (Butcher, Maker, Undertaker)-Has a very folk feel to this one, you can drive around Tenn. with this one on and feel at home (2:53).
12. (Blind Ghost Man)- Starts with guitar, if there were concluding paragraphs in an album this would be a prime example. Tell them what you just told them. Folk and Blues feel to this one. Almost entirely an instrumental, good ending to CD.
