ESHU - Timeless EP Label: ESHU Records
ESHU consists of Roger Gerressen, Jocelyn Abell, Daniƫl Lekatompessy and Ivano Tetelepta, representing Nijmegen Holland. Their mantra is "Techno in all shapes and forms". But I think it's more than just straight techno - there's some thoughtful ideas and broken patterns to their work. This like-minded collective are getting attention throughout Europe's underground, and it's no wonder why. "MM" is a great track, and so is "Timeless". The Brendon Moeller remix of "MM" is reminiscent of something Theo Parrish would've made. Try them all. Love this EP.
1. 10:14 "MM" - A long track featuring a neat broken-beat with textured crackles and simple synth stabs. The extra-low bass on the downbeat is really cool. Spacey & funky at the same time. Love it.
2. 7:11 "MM" (Echologist remix) - Techno master Brendon Moeller throws down on this remix of MM, and I think the synths, broken beats, and organic crackles make it sound a bit like something Theo Parrish would've made. Thoughtful remix.
3. 7:20 "Timeless" - Ambient noise punctuated by a hard-thumping broken-beat pattern. Mesmerizing in its simplicity. Synths build up to a crescendo and climax. I could be perfectly happy with just the pounding beat pattern alone.
