Headbirds: The Holy Look Label: (self-released)
Is it the second coming of "two-step" garage/house? This is also just wild & funky fun stuff. Whatever you call it (UK Bass? Future Garage?) who cares? It's just really good. I hope people play more of this stuff because it's so lively and fun. Wonderful (two-step) broken-beat house, with great little synths and vocal samples to keep the groove going strong. Try all three of them, with #2 (watch the movie) my favorite.
1. (Tempodrom): Smooth and funky, cut-up broken-beat two-step house. Little funky vocal snippets, light & airy synths, and during the breaks there's just some excellent slammin' bass. Love it!
2. (watch the movie): Vocals feature more prominently here with assorted little samples saying stuff like "watch the movie". And when the main soulful vocals kicks in midway you can't help but to be dancing. So catchy with all the little synths and groovy bassline. Even the snares are timed perfectly.
3. (hungry winds): Mad synths and crazy little cut-up melodies over that signature bouncy broken-beat. Great mix of spacey and funky. The energy is lively and vibrant, and you can't stop bouncing to this. So good.
