Sophomore album from Chicago singer-songwriter. Bluesy folk-rock in the spirit of Tom Waits, featuring eclectic array of instruments: toy piano, homemade percussion, etc. Great soulful vocals. For fans of Waits, Tindersticks, Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
Play: Coming Through, Ain't Got No Love, Hole in the Roof.
1. Wavering Lines (3:54) - Begins a capella. Strings enter about halfway through.
2. Coming Through (3:55) - Soul-inflected, mid-tempo rocker featuring Cat Power.
3. Everything Unwinds (3:31) - Slow, plucked guitar.
4. Burning Bridges (5:00) - Mid-tempo rocker w/ piano and snare.
5. Disintegrating (4:36) - Piano ballad w/ fuzzy vocal effects.
6. Too Dry to Cry (4:40) - Very Tom Waits-y. Horny lyrics.
7. What's the Deal? (4:41) - FCC "fuck you" - Dark, noisy soundscape w/ elegiac vocal.
8. Ain't Got No Love (5:20) - Aggressive, howling vocal. A highlight.
