The latest salvo from the diaspora-centered avant-electronica label NON (Dedekind Cut, Chino Amobi) is a London collaboration between singer Farai Bukowski-Bouquet and producer Basil Anthony Harewood. Spoken word vocals, production with elements of new wave, post-punk, drum-and-bass, dub, trap. Catchy, surreal, uplifting, great. 3 is my favorite, but everything here is A+. No FCCs detected.
1. (1:48)—Retro keyboard drone, spoken word about loving yourself.
2. (3:07)—Mid-tempo plod, sort of dubby. Thick, glittery keyboards. “I am not local! I am global!”
3. *(2:55)—Fast, synthy post-punk. Driving, intense, kickass, fist-pumping, relentless. Play this!
4. (2:08)—Slow, really crazy beat that wanders from trap to footwork.
