Review: A musical illusionist, Threadgill can create a scope of orchestration that is disproportionate to the size of its source. He can generate tremendous power and emotion without pyrotechnics or mawkishness, as he does here on his latest disc. Several stellar musicians who lead their own groups join this recording.
