KZSU-affiliated experimental/improv project. (The two people who made this album were the DJs I trained with when I joined KZSU in 2012.) Fun, loose, colorful, noisy at times but not aggressive. There's a pastoral quality to these recordings. I imagine them soundtracking some strange animated TV show aired in the 80s and rebroadcast late at night. Favorites: 2, 3, 7, 8. No FCCs.
1. (14:29)—Trippy grainy monotron siren sounds. Psychedelic chugging Durutti Column guitar.
2. *(1:42)—Sort of upbeat and wistful, major key guitar and keys.
3. *(4:00)—Distant percussion with a 90s post-rock/shoegaze feel, more gentle guitars. Whooshing sounds.
4. (5:36)—The Springsteen impersonation on this one is off the hook.
5. (5:52)—Plinking piano, surfy guitar. Cool woozy guitar near the end.
6. (3:54)—More Durutti Column zones, but with some ominous synth bass. Intense slow drumming.
7. *(2:06)—New age textures with distant drumming. Pretty and free-flowing.
8. *(11:25)—Very slow, moody, bluesy, with space noises. This kinda reminds me of Miles Davis's 30-minute track "He Loved Him Madly." The full track title doesn't fit in ZK, but it's "reading the book 'Ransoming Pagan Babies' on the porch and hearing a hit and run in sunny Minneapolis, MN ("that's why we don't play in the street")".
