Acid jazz from the Ubiquity Records Cookin' compilations. Popular in the early '90s, acid jazz is not a rigidly defined genre. However based upon this album it's breakbeats and live musicians playing a hybrid funky soul jazz/electronic/dance/hip-hop. Some of the songs can be a bit smooth for my tastes (my only problem with acid jazz in general), but there a lot of great music that hits hard and be funky. Explore this record--it's a fine compilation and I pretty much liked it all, recommended tracks include CD1 tracks 1, 4, 5, 9, 11, and 13; CD2 tracks 1, 3, 5, 9, and 10
