Nice little stewpot of a band, doing accessible jazz dedicated to freedom fighters and the struggle against oppression. Overall focuses on fast rolling horns, with a deep '60s influence but also a bit of traditional big-band color in the writing (even thought it's only a quintet). A few avant-garde moments too, like #2. Fine stuff overall.

The band includes Chicago stalwarts Jeb Bishop (trombone) and Jeff Parker (guitar) as well as Sirota on drums. Also a couple of names I'm not familiar with, Clark Sommers (bass) and Geof Bradfield (sax).

- Cooking and soulful mid/fast
- Slowish and free, with samples of speeches from Fred Hampton of the Black Panthers
- Easygoing strut, ringing guitar riff. Fierce sax solo.
- Slow, tumbling theme
- Reggae! Mid/fast
- Slow and romantic
- Fast drama, choppy theme
- A bit fast but somber
- Mid/fast and cheery, with an odd-time theme. Dedicated to Don Cherry
- A rich, warm '60s feel; mid-fast
- Midtempo, warm.
