Cape Verdean female vocalist raised in Lisbon, she sings batuku ( rhythm orginated by women beating folded clothes and lampooning community happenings accompanied by a sensual dance) and accordion driven funana styles from the island of Santiago ( the most African of the islands of Cape Verde) in Portuguese. Most tunes are Upbeat high energy poppy tunes, two are the slow, sad mornas style of Cesaria Evora who she toured with. She played SF and Santa Cruz in September 2005.
