Solomon Burke/Like a Fire/Shout!/2008
Rock influenced blues/soul. Burke comes from that great soul singer tradition that begins with gospel and attempts to crossover. He only recently managed to have that crossover success and he seems to enjoy maintaining his fringe status. He has a talent for working with amazing songwriters. 1) 5:06 Slow title track and Eric Clapton song. Mellow rock.
2) 5:03 Slow Barry White beginning vocals…m m m Keb Mo on vocals and guitar. Sweet song.
3) 3:36 Slow and mellow, with almost a hint of country.
4) 4:24 Starts slow and builds quickly to uptempo, this is a Ben Harper song with him on dobro and backing vocals. Gospel and blues.
5) 3:56 midtempo Ben Harper on backing vocals, this is a fun, poppy soulful song.
6) 3:06 Slow waltz, great organ. Beautiful and soulful.
7) 3:37 Slow and sweet, soulful. Honey backing vocals.
8) 3:06 Midtempo. Straight ahead lighter rock with a bit o’ soul.
